basics 101: white tanks

As the weather's been getting warmer, I have been curating some of the "best" white tanks I can find on the market, in terms of quality and affordability. I love neutrals, and white tanks have always been the number one staple in my summer wardrobe. A good white tank is incredibly versatile. It can create an effortlessly chic look, and can also be dressed up if paired appropriately.

I have been eyeing on the Aritzia's Murphy blouse for quite some time, and I was so happy to find a dupe in Forever 21 for a fraction of the price! This tank has thick straps that can easily cover any undergarments, with a v-neck that is not too high or low. Although it is from Forever 21, it is lined so it can be worn with or without cami tanks underneath.

Turtlenecks have been a huge trend last winter, and this trend seems to be able to make it to this spring with a small tweak. This garment I found in H&M is made of light-weighed cotton. The neckline sits quite a bit lower, while maintaining that turtleneck silhouette, it won't make you feel stuffed under the hot weather. Also, the crop length makes it perfect for pairing with high-waisted jeans or shorts.

Another one of my favorite finds in Aritzia. Although there are more affordable options for this simple crewneck style, this Wiltona tank from Talula stood out to me because of its supreme fabric. It is soft and stretchy, and the fabric is thick enough to cover any undergarments- an important thing to look out for when shopping for white tops!

Dressing up the same tank top. Here I paired it up with a side-slit midi skirt from Zara and heels from Nine West.

Happy spring shopping!

wishlist: travel essentials

1. Rebecca Minkoff Julian backpack. Been eyeing on this backpack since it came out. Seems a versatile piece that would easily go well with any travel outfits, also great for some hands-free shopping ;)
2. Rayban Flash Aviators. My good ol' pair of classic aviators have been good to me the past few summers, it's about time to get an upgrade.
3. Adidas Stan Smith. Just a pair of white kicks for summer- comfy and practical.
4. Mansur Gavriel Mini Mini bucket bag. Definitely has a love-hate relationship with this one. I am obsessed with its silhouette and colour, yet it might be the one item that I will never be able to get my hands on...

What are your fashion travel essentials?

it's been a while

It's been a good three years since I made my last post. Lots have changed, for the better. While in the last post I was confused about my future more than ever,  I am glad to say three years later, I am at a place where I have found the career path that I am absolutely passionate about and I just cannot wait to get started on.

Decided to come back to blogging for a simple reason, as a documentation for my passion for lifestyle, fashion & beauty.
Here is a quick recap of my recent fashion favourites:

Been on the hunt for a pair of black strapped block heels with 2.5-3 inch height for casual wear. So glad that I was able to found these from Topshop (with 20% off sale too!)! As for the boyfriend jeans, it is always a challenge to find a pair that won't overwhelm my petite body frame. These Lucas jeans (also from Topshop) happens to fit just fine. I got these in size W24'x L30', I just wish they come in length 28' as well, but it is not big of a problem to take in an inch or two myself.

Trying on something new... Put on these Dungaree from Topshop the other day. Did not end up bringing it home because I was unsure of its versatility. At the price point of nearly a hundred, I prefer investing in a piece that I know I can get a lot of use out of.

Absolutely in. love. with these Juvenate sneakers from Nike. When I go shoes-shopping, I almost always opt for style over comfort (might not be the wisest decision but it is sadly the truth). A few days after I brought these shoes home, I was uncertain of whether or not I would actually wear them, as I have never been a sneakers-kinda girl. But as soon as I paired them with my black ripped Jamie jeans, I knew I was in love. First of all, they are hands down the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned- super nice & light. They also go well with a lot of things in my closet, which consists of a variety of neutral colours. These shoes quickly became my go-to shoes on the days for errands or for a shopping trip that involves a lot of walking.

Above is one of my favorite ways to wear them. Top is from Forever 21 (great alternative to the $70 Murphy blouse from Aritzia) & Jeans are from Topshop.

So, that's all for now!
Looking forward to return with some more spring favourites next time.

HOLIDAY STATEMENT

Aside from home decorations, I think I secretly have an obsession with DIY projects...
This tutorial (see link) appears to be fun & easy to do, the necklace itself also seems to make great complimentary piece for holiday outfits :)

Alright, enough procrastination.
Gotta go back to studying, finish my exam on Tuesday before I can move on to execute all these exciting post-exam plans...

Have a great weekend everyone,

The weather in Vancouver just shifted to fall/winter-ish not too long ago but I already feel the urge to put something around my neck before I head out to school every morning.. solely because scarf does make a huge difference. Nothing super fancy about these scarves but they are all high on my to-buy list before the weather turns even chillier...

DIY FLORAL NECKLACE

Inspired by Chriselle lim's neckpiece where she worn on her bridal shower, I decided to repaint my floral bib necklace with summer-ish nail colors this time. My painting skills is def not the strongest especially when I'm putting on a second coat onto the jewels, covering the previous colors that I had it on. Nonetheless I'm quite happy with how it turned out to be like : )

SUMMER CHECKLIST☀

My summer holiday is (finally) starting next week after the final exam. and here's the simple outline of how my three-week-long summer will go, nothing fancy but at least it excites me much more than my microbiology textbook.

1. work
2. reorganize home- feels like it's becoming a routine on every break, but it'll take extra effort this time as countless paper boxes and furniture moved in from parent's old house.. still can't believe there are four couches sitting in my living room atm
3. shop for huge rug and bar stools
4. haircut (& possibly gradient dye:)
5. sewing projects- including pants alternation and making new clothes, too much ideas running on my mind that i can't wait to get it started
6. RUN on the track & field right across home on every sunny day- this one is prob the hardest to carry out as it has been long overdue since i got my runners during wintertime... but gotta make the most of the short summer we have in Vancity!
7. Minor closet re-do -still quite happy with how it's organized since it has only been a year since i moved in, but just wanted to make an update by replacing the old clothes with the new inspiring pieces
8. READ READ & READ- just 'cause the books are starting to get dusted on the bookshelf..
9. Day trip to States- yes again, time to get my wardrobe fall-ready

Have a good rest of the day!
